Madhya Pradesh Congress questions state school education performance

The Madhya Pradesh Congress has criticized the state government regarding the performance of school education in the region. Citing the Central Ministry of Education’s ‘Performance Grading Index for Districts’ (PGI-D) 2025-26, the party noted that no district in the state surpassed the 60 percent mark.

State Congress President Jitu Patwari addressed a letter to Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, stating that the highest-performing district received only 333 out of 600 marks, or 55.5 percent. The PGI-D evaluated 784 districts nationwide across 70 parameters, including learning outcomes, infrastructure, school safety, digital learning, and governance.

Patwari highlighted specific deficiencies, noting that Bhopal scored approximately 47 percent in learning outcomes and 37 percent in school safety, while Indore achieved roughly 41 percent in school facilities and 47 percent in learning outcomes. Digital learning scores were particularly low in districts such as Barwani (16 percent), Dhar (20 percent), Sagar (24 percent), and Agar-Malwa (28 percent).

The Congress party has demanded a public district-wise review of the results, time-bound plans to improve learning outcomes, and audits of digital resources, internet connectivity, and teacher training in districts where digital learning scores fell below 30 percent.
