Madhya Pradesh government files Supreme Court petition over 27% OBC reservation

The Madhya Pradesh government has filed a Special Leave Petition (SLP) in the Supreme Court regarding the 27 percent reservation for Other Backward Classes (OBC). This legal move follows a High Court decision that invalidated petitions seeking the 27 percent quota.

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav stated that the government has conducted a point-by-point study of the High Court's ruling and remains committed to protecting the interests of the OBC community. The administration is seeking a logical and just legal solution to the reservation issue.

In response to the legal setback, Leader of the Opposition Umang Singhar has written to the Governor and the Chief Minister. Singhar urged the state to explore constitutional remedies, such as requesting the central government to include OBC reservation provisions in the Ninth Schedule of the Constitution. He emphasized the need for effective action based on updated social, educational, and economic data to ensure the community's participation in governance.
