Madhya Pradesh Governor denies prosecution for Minister Kunwar Vijay Shah

The Governor of Madhya Pradesh, Mangubhai Patel, has endorsed the state Cabinet’s decision to deny permission for the prosecution of Minister Kunwar Vijay Shah. The decision follows controversial remarks made by Shah regarding Colonel Sofya Qureshi, the Army spokesperson during Operation Sindoor.

Shah had previously referred to Colonel Qureshi as a ‘sister of terrorists’ while she was briefing the public on India’s military response to terror attacks in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir. While the Madhya Pradesh High Court had ordered the filing of a first information report against the minister, the state government had not acted on the matter for a year until the Supreme Court inquired about the investigation's progress.
