Madhya Pradesh Rajya Sabha by-election scheduled for November 12
The Election Commission has issued a notification for a by-election to fill a vacant Rajya Sabha seat from Madhya Pradesh. The vacancy follows the resignation of Union Minister Dr. L. Murugan, whose term was originally set to run until April 2030.
According to the official schedule, the nomination process began on October 26, with the deadline for filing nominations set for November 2. Scrutiny of nomination papers will take place on November 3, and candidates have until November 5 to withdraw their names. Voting is scheduled for November 12, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with the counting of votes to follow that same evening.
Political discussions are underway regarding the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate. While the party has not made an official announcement, speculation includes potential candidates from both within and outside Madhya Pradesh, including Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri. The BJP is expected to maintain a strong position due to its majority in the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly.
