Madhya Pradesh rejects PPP model for state-funded medical colleges

Madhya Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla has announced that the state government will not hand over medical colleges built with public funds to private entities under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. He clarified that the state will maintain full responsibility for the operation and maintenance of these institutions.

This decision follows internal opposition within the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party regarding the proposed management of the newly constructed Damoh Medical College and Hospital. Local leaders expressed concerns that transitioning to a PPP model could lead to higher fees and increased treatment costs for the public, despite the state having already invested approximately 350 crore rupees in the facility.
