Mohan Yadav demolishes part of ancestral home for Ujjain road project

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has personally participated in the demolition of a portion of his ancestral home in Ujjain. The demolition is part of a major road-widening project in the Abdalpura area, aimed at improving infrastructure for the Simhastha 2028 religious festival.

Using a pickaxe, the Chief Minister initiated the removal of approximately 2.90 metres of the structure, which was originally built by his grandfather in 1974. His sister, Kalawati Yadav, who serves as the Chairperson of the Ujjain Municipal Corporation, also has a portion of her property affected by the project. The family has reportedly decided not to seek compensation for the loss.

The infrastructure project involves widening a 730-metre stretch from Khajur Wali Masjid to Ganesh Chowk to a width of 15 metres. In total, approximately 272 buildings have been identified for impact due to the expansion. The Chief Minister stated that while the process is emotional, such sacrifices are necessary for the city's development and to accommodate the massive influx of pilgrims expected during the Simhastha festival.
