Madhya Pradesh to observe 2027 as Year of Youth

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has declared 2027 as the ‘Year of Youth’ in Madhya Pradesh, announcing several initiatives to enhance education, employment, and research opportunities. During the CM Youth Conclave-2026 in Bhopal, Yadav stated that the Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC) will conduct two examinations in 2027 instead of one.

Key educational and economic measures include the establishment of 12 new medical colleges and 12 new universities focused on employment-oriented courses. The state plans to provide free coaching for competitive exams in all district government colleges and will install advanced Artificial Intelligence and computing laboratories in these institutions. Research scholars will see their monthly stipends increase from Rs 16,000 to Rs 25,000, and a Rs 5-crore ‘Idea Fund’ will be created to support youth startups.

However, the conclave was marked by unrest during a musical performance by singer Jubin Nautiyal. Clashes occurred between students and police at the Lal Parade Ground after some youths attempted to breach barricades. The confrontation led to a brief period of chaos, involving the throwing of chairs and the use of force by police to control the crowd. Local political leaders have criticized the incident, citing it as a sign of youth dissatisfaction.
