Madhya Pradesh to recruit 10,000 teachers and rebuild 700 schools

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has directed the School Education Department in Madhya Pradesh to initiate the recruitment process for approximately 10,000 teachers. The final number of vacancies will be determined after accounting for upcoming promotions and retirements scheduled through March 2027.

In addition to staffing, the state is addressing school infrastructure. The Chief Minister ordered the construction of new buildings within two years to replace roughly 700 dilapidated schools. Plans are also underway to build new classrooms in 3,000 other schools requiring repairs or expansion. The department is considering a cluster-based approach, assigning construction and maintenance tasks to agencies responsible for groups of 10 to 15 schools to improve oversight.

Separately, former Chief Minister Digvijaya Singh has written to Mohan Yadav requesting the immediate appointment of candidates for 5,820 remaining vacancies from the 2023 Higher Secondary Teacher Recruitment (Class-1) process. Singh noted that while 8,721 positions were advertised, only 2,901 have been filled. He urged the government to finalize these appointments before Teacher's Day on September 5, 2026, to prevent planned protests by selected candidates.
