Madina MP Francis-Xavier Sosu stable after collapsing at GIMPA event

Francis-Xavier Sosu, the Member of Parliament for Madina, is in stable condition after falling ill during a presentation at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) on Thursday, September 24, 2026.

While delivering a speech on leadership and public service, the lawmaker reportedly showed signs of exhaustion and lost consciousness. The incident was captured in video footage circulating on social media, showing the MP slumping on stage before being assisted by bystanders and protocol officials.

Both the Office of Parliament and the MP’s personal office have issued statements confirming that Dr. Sosu received immediate medical attention and is currently under the supervision of a medical team. His office expressed gratitude for the public support and urged people to disregard unverified speculation regarding the cause of the collapse. Parliament has also requested that the media and public respect the privacy of the MP and his family.
