Madison Bergh breaks three records at Short Course Gala

The Bank Windhoek and NASFED Short Course Gala concluded on 15 August 2026 at the Marlins Aquatic Club in Windhoek. The three-day event brought together swimmers from the Khomas, Erongo, and //Kharas regions across junior, youth, senior, and masters categories.

Madison Bergh of the Marlins Swimming Club was a standout performer, breaking three records. She set a new national Open female record and a girls 17–18 age group record in the 400m freestyle with a time of 4:29.11. Additionally, she set a new record in the girls 17–18 category for the 800m freestyle with a time of 9:19.79.

The competition served as a platform for athletes to test their skills and gain experience ahead of upcoming national and international events, including the Junior Open Water Championships in Argentina. Despite some participants being affected by seasonal flu, organizers noted the event was successful in providing essential racing opportunities and preparing officials for future competitions, such as the Africa Champs.
