Madison Gaffney faces new cybercrime charge in Tamworth court

Madison Gaffney, 38, appeared in Tamworth Local Court regarding charges of using a carriage service to access child abuse material online. During the court appearance, a solicitor for the NSW Director of Public Prosecutions informed Judge Julie Soars that a fresh charge had been laid, while one of the two existing counts would be withdrawn.

The court has ordered a case conference to allow the defence to review the charge certificate and decide on a plea. Due to the absence of the primary prosecution solicitor until mid-October, Judge Soars ordered the matter to return to court in November, noting that further delays might not be permitted.
