Madison Square Garden Sports reports revenue surge following Knicks championship

Madison Square Garden Sports Corporation reported a significant revenue increase for the period of April to June, driven largely by the New York Knicks’ 2026 NBA championship run. The corporation’s total revenue rose 11 percent over the prior fiscal year, reaching $278.7 million compared to $204 million in the same quarter the previous year.

Playoff-related revenues specifically increased by $66.9 million compared to the prior year, when the Knicks reached the Eastern Conference Finals. Despite playing the same number of home games (nine) in both postseason runs, the 2026 championship run proved more lucrative due to higher sponsorships, increased ticket prices, and higher sales of merchandise, food, and beverages at Madison Square Garden. The organization noted a $1.5 million increase in food, beverage, and merchandise sales over the same quarter in the previous year.

The report comes as MSG Sports prepares to split the Knicks and the New York Rangers into two separate publicly traded companies, a spin-off expected to be completed by the end of October.
