Madlanga Commission expects Feroz Khan to testify Tuesday

The Madlanga Commission of Inquiry expects suspended Crime Intelligence head, Major-General Feroz Khan, to testify on Tuesday, September 1. Khan, who was previously wounded in a June shooting in Johannesburg, was reportedly readmitted to a hospital over the weekend. While his legal team may seek a postponement, commission spokesperson Jeremy Michaels stated that Khan’s subpoena remains in effect as no formal application for delay has been received.

The inquiry has also seen significant developments regarding other figures. Criminal charges were laid against North West businessman Suliman Carrim after he repeatedly failed to appear before the commission despite citing ill health.

Additionally, Lieutenant-Colonel Deena Govender of the Hawks testified, alleging that suspended Police Minister Senzo Mchunu directed him to implicate KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi in 172 shootings. Govender claims these instructions were communicated through Mavuso Ntandani.
