Madona region: Child leads police on 187 km/h chase

A child born in 2013 led police on a high-speed chase through the Madona and Cesvaine regions on September 18. The young driver, who took his father's car keys without permission, reached speeds of up to 187 km/h while fleeing from law enforcement.

The pursuit began in Madona and continued through various streets before moving toward Cesvaine via the P37 highway. During the chase, the Audi was driven aggressively, violating numerous traffic laws and endangering other road users. The vehicle eventually came to a stop in Cesvaine near a stadium.

State Police have launched an investigation into the incident. Authorities will evaluate the situation regarding both the minor's actions and parental responsibility for child supervision. Police have issued a reminder to parents to secure vehicle keys to prevent life-threatening incidents.
