Madonie Park Authority launches wildlife damage compensation
The Madonie Park Authority has launched an indemnity program to compensate businesses and individuals for damages caused by wildlife. An initial sum of over 280,000 euros is immediately available, with reimbursements covering the period from 2021 to 2024 and additional tranches planned through September 2026.
Of the available funds, approximately 110,000 euros will be immediately allocated to cover documented damages from 2021 and 2022. The funding is largely supported by the Sicilian Region, which allocated 200,000 euros through the Department of Territory and Environment, with the remaining funds to be sourced directly by the Park Authority. Giuseppe Ferrarello, President of the Madonie Park Authority, stated that these payments represent a concrete response to the economic challenges faced by local businesses due to wildlife interference.
