Madonna and Charli XCX release collaborative single “Danceteria Afterhours”
Madonna and Charli XCX have released “Danceteria Afterhours,” a collaborative remix of the track “Danceteria” from Madonna’s album Confessions II. Released via Warner Records, the song serves as a bridge between different eras of club culture, blending Madonna’s early career roots in New York’s legendary Danceteria club with Charli XCX’s contemporary electronic and rave influences.
The track was produced by Madonna, Andrew Watt, Cirkut, and Stuart Price. The collaboration follows recent interactions between the two artists, including a joint “CLUB CONFESSIONS” party hosted with Saint Laurent during Paris Fashion Week. In the song, Charli XCX reflects on her musical beginnings in London and her later connections with producers A. G. Cook and SOPHIE.
The release coincides with a significant moment for Madonna, who is set to open the MTV Video Music Awards on September 27. This marks her first appearance at the ceremony in 23 years and her fifth performance in the show’s history. Madonna leads this year’s awards with 13 nominations.
