Madonna delle Grazie Hospital reaches 100 robotic surgeries in six months

The Madonna delle Grazie Hospital in Matera has reached a milestone of 100 robotic surgery procedures within six months of implementing the Hugo RAS system. The surgeries have been conducted across the specialties of General Surgery, Urology, and Gynecology.

Following an initial training phase requiring 12 procedures per specialty, medical teams have transitioned from laparoscopic to robotic surgery. The hospital aims to expand its use of the technology to more complex procedures, including radical cystectomy with urinary diversion, utero-adnexal pathology, and colon and rectal surgery.

Medtronic specialists monitoring Hugo RAS centers in Italy have noted that the volume and quality of activity in Matera are comparable to highly accredited hospitals in Northern Italy.
