Madonna launches 'Confessions II' short film with celebrity cameos

Madonna released a 13‑minute short film titled "Confessions II – The Film" as a visual preview for her upcoming album Confessions II, slated for release on 3 July. The piece premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York and is now available on YouTube. Directed by the duo TORSO (David Toro and Solomon Chase), the film transforms a night‑club into a neon‑lit, dream‑like setting that blends dance, fashion and queer culture.

The work features a roster of high‑profile cameo appearances, including Kate Moss, Benedict Cumberbatch, Gwendoline Christie, Richard E. Grant, Arca, Honey Dijon, and footballers Cole Palmer and João Pedro. Actress Julia Garner, who is set to portray Madonna in her forthcoming biopic, also appears. Madonna noted during the presentation that “a video sounded cheap,” prompting her to create a short‑film instead.

The project serves both as a promotional vehicle for the new album—intended as a follow‑up to 2005’s Confessions on a Dance Floor—and as a showcase of Madonna’s continued influence across music, fashion and visual art.
