Madonna visits Patmos, boosting international tourism profile
Pop icon Madonna visited the Greek island of Patmos from August 17 to August 19, 2026. Arriving and departing via helicopter, the singer stayed at a luxury accommodation in Scala and visited the Monastery of the Apocalypse and the Cave of the Apocalypse.
Patmos Mayor Nikitas Tsabalakis stated that the visit provides significant free international promotion for the island, noting that the presence of global personalities helps the destination reach a worldwide audience through their shared experiences. This increased visibility is reportedly driving interest in high-quality tourism investments, specifically in boutique accommodations and premium services.
The local administration emphasized that while investment interest is rising, the municipality is prioritizing essential infrastructure and aims to expand the tourism season into the spring and autumn while preserving the island's cultural and physical heritage.
