Madonna wins seven awards at 2026 MTV VMAs
The 2026 MTV Video Music Awards, held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles and hosted by Snoop Dogg, saw Madonna emerge as the night’s biggest winner. The 68-year-old singer secured seven awards, including Artist of the Year, Best Dance, and Best Collaboration. Her return to the VMA stage marked her first performance at the ceremony in 23 years.
Taylor Swift also achieved major milestones, becoming the most-awarded artist in VMA history with 32 Moon Person trophies. Swift won Video of the Year for ‘The Fate of Ophelia’ and received the inaugural Artist Director Honors. Other notable winners included LISA, who won Best Pop, and Sienna Spiro, who took home Best New Artist.
While the ceremony celebrated various artists and included tributes to Dolly Parton and George Michael, it also faced criticism. Some viewers and commentators raised concerns regarding Madonna’s performance, citing instances of perceived lip-syncing and unconventional onstage behavior. Additionally, some reports noted a perceived decline in the show's cultural momentum due to the absence of several major nominees.
