Madonna's 'Confessions II' hits No. 1 in Italy, UK and US

Madonna released her fifteenth studio album, *Confessions II*, on 3 July 2026 as a sequel to 2005’s *Confessions on a Dance Floor*. The record, produced with longtime collaborator Stuart Price, features guest appearances by her daughter Lola Leon, Martin Garrix, Stromae, Sabrina Carpenter and others, and is structured as a continuous DJ‑set of 16 tracks.

In Italy the album entered the FIMI/NIQ chart at #1, Madonna’s first Italian album‑chart topper in eleven years. The same week it debuted at the top of the UK Official Albums Chart, marking her 13th UK #1 and making her the first American female artist to achieve #1 albums in five different decades, tying Elvis Presley for fifth‑place on the all‑time list. In the United States the release sold 126,706 units (107,640 physical) in its first week, also securing the US #1 spot. The album also entered the Australian ARIA Albums Chart at #1 and reached #2 on the Irish Albums Chart. It topped the UK Vinyl Albums Chart and the US Vinyl Chart, underscoring strong physical‑sales demand.

Critical reception notes the album’s blend of classic dance‑floor sounds with personal lyrics about love, trauma, loss and healing, while emphasizing Madonna’s view of the dance floor as a sanctuary. The project has been highlighted as a historic chart achievement and a commercial comeback for the pop icon.
