Madonna's surprise Times Square concert sparks safety concerns and Pride celebration

Madonna performed an unannounced concert on June 4 at New York’s Times Square as part of Pride Month. The show, organized with the queer‑dating app Grindr, featured tracks from her upcoming album Confessions II, including the live debut of “Love Sensation” and earlier songs such as “I Feel So Free” and “Bring Your Love”. Madonna also performed classic hits “Get Together”, “I Love New York” and “Hung Up”.

The stage was built high above the crowd, and during the set the singer briefly stepped over a protective railing, appearing to hang several metres above the audience. Viewers posted shocked reactions on social media, with one commentator writing, “Kako sam vrisnula ‘Madonna, ne, nemoj!!!!’ kad sam visjela preko ograde!” The performance was praised for its celebratory tone and visual tribute to LGBTQ+ activism. Producer Stuart Price, who worked on her 2005 album, was present, and Madonna’s recent collaboration with Sabrina Carpenter at Coachella was also highlighted. Confessions II is scheduled for release on July 3.
