Madras High Court Issues GST Assessment Remand and Stays DVAC Inspector Suspension
The Madras High Court remanded an assessment order against Tvl. R. M. K. Enterprises for the 2017‑18 tax period, directing the taxpayer to deposit the full disputed GST amount before a fresh order can be issued. The Court noted procedural lapses in the notice and assessment process and ordered a fresh adjudication within three months if the deposit is made.
In a separate matter, the same court stayed the suspension of a Directorate of Vigilance and Anti‑Corruption (DVAC) inspector who had been suspended after filing a complaint against a fellow officer. The bench held that the earlier interim stay was issued without proper verification of evidence and directed the state to present all materials before the single judge before any further action.
