Madras High Court orders Devanathan Yadav to surrender by October 31
The Madras High Court has denied an extension for Devanathan Yadav, the director of The Mylapore Hindu Permanent Fund, to receive medical treatment at a private hospital. The court directed Yadav to surrender to prison authorities by October 31.
Yadav was arrested in connection with an alleged multi-crore financial fraud involving investments from more than 100 depositors. While his counsel sought additional time for surgery, the court found no sufficient grounds to extend the previous eight-week period granted for his treatment.
A division bench comprising Justices Sundar Mohan and G K Muthukumaran ordered a government medical team to examine Yadav’s health condition upon his surrender to determine the necessary course of action.
