Madras High Court quashes case against Edappadi K. Palaniswami

The Madras High Court has quashed a case filed against former Chief Minister and AIADMK leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami and other party leaders. The case originated from an October 2022 incident where the party held a hunger strike at Valluvar Kottam in Chennai without official permission.

Police had previously registered the case, alleging that the unauthorized demonstration caused traffic disruptions. The petitioners argued that the legal action was politically motivated and that the protest was conducted through democratic means without any unpleasant incidents occurring. Justice V. Lakshminarayanan of the Madras High Court ordered the cancellation of the case.
