Madrid allocates 28 million euros to health research projects

The Community of Madrid has announced an investment of 28 million euros to support research, development, and innovation (R&D) projects in the health sector. This budget represents a 40% increase compared to previous funding cycles.

Selected programs, which can begin receiving financing starting January 1, 2027, will span a four-year period. Each project must involve collaboration between three and ten research groups from at least three different institutions. Eligible entities include universities, public research centers, IMDEA foundations, and other health-related R&D organizations.

Research areas will focus on biomedical engineering, new diagnostic systems, drug and vaccine development, neuroscience, and medical robotics. The maximum funding per program has increased to 1.3 million euros, which can be used for personnel, equipment, and mobility. New measures include support for emerging groups led by young researchers and simplified administrative processes to reduce bureaucracy.
