Spain grants tourism accreditation to 16 local festivals

The Spanish Ministry of Industry and Tourism has officially granted new tourism accreditation to 16 local celebrations, designating them as either Fiestas of National or International Interest. The ceremony, held at the Teatro Real in Madrid and presided over by Minister Jordi Hereu, recognized 11 festivals at the national level and five at the international level.

Key recipients include the Festival de la Exaltación del Botillo in Bembibre, which achieved international status, and the Bodas de Isabel in Teruel, which received international recognition alongside the Vaquilla del Ángel, which was designated as a national interest festival. Other notable national recognitions were awarded to the Festival de la Manzana in Villaviciosa, El Vítor in Horcajo de Santiago, the Jornadas Calderonianas in Yepes, and the Carrera del Agua in Lanjarón.

Minister Hereu emphasized that these distinctions reward the quality of Spanish tourism destinations and promote the country’s cultural, gastronomic, and religious diversity. The ministry noted that these recognitions support cultural and inland tourism, providing intangible value to Spain’s international promotion as a tourism power. With these new additions, the total number of recognized festivals in Spain reaches 266, consisting of 175 national and 91 international designations.
