Isabel Díaz Ayuso defends Madrid economy and criticizes housing policy

During the III Madrid Investment Forum, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, President of the Community of Madrid, addressed international investors to express confidence in the region's economic stability despite the national political climate. She highlighted Madrid as an economic engine, noting that the regional economy grew by 3% in the last year, outpacing the national average.

Ayuso also used the forum to criticize the Spanish central government's housing policies, labeling them “sectarian and deeply ideological.” She specifically mocked proposals that would allow tenants to remain in properties based on age, arguing that such measures undermine the rule of law and penalize property owners.

Additionally, the Madrid City Council has approved the final administrative steps for the Valdecarros development. This massive urban project in the Villa de Vallecas district is set to provide over 51,000 homes, with 55% designated for public protection or affordable rent, aiming to accommodate a future population of approximately 150,000 residents.
