Madrid announces new citizen service center and parking expansions
The Community of Madrid will open a new headquarters for the Central Citizen Service Office (OCAC) on Carretas Street in early January. The relocation from Carrera de San Jerónimo is intended to accommodate growing service demands. The new 828-square-meter facility will feature 500 square meters dedicated to direct assistance, nearly doubling the current capacity. It will include 13 service desks, a multifunctional room, assisted self-processing stations, and specialized facilities for elderly and disabled citizens. Additionally, the site will house the Registry of De Facto Unions.
In separate urban developments, the Madrid City Council is extending the Regulated Parking Service (SER) within the Carabanchel district. Starting November 3, the service will expand to the Opañel neighborhood with 2,760 new regulated spaces and to San Isidro with 401 spaces. Of the 3,161 new spaces in Carabanchel, 94 percent are designated as green zones for residents, while 6 percent are blue zones for rotation. This expansion is part of the Madrid 360 Environmental Sustainability Strategy to optimize public space usage.
