Madrid approves 880‑million‑euro extension of Metro Line 11

The Community of Madrid has authorized an 880.6‑million‑euro project to extend Metro Line 11 by 7.2 km, adding four new stations—IFEMA‑Cárcavas, Ciudad de la Justicia, Hospital Isabel Zendal and Valdebebas Norte—and linking with existing hubs at Mar de Cristal and Aeropuerto T4. The extension will connect key economic, judicial and health zones, improve inter‑modal connections with the Cercanías network, and alleviate congestion on the heavily used Line 6.

Regional president Isabel Díaz Ayuso praised the move on Twitter, saying: “Metro de Madrid sigue creciendo para facilitar la vida a los madrileños, gracias a uno de los mejores transportes públicos del mundo.”
