Madrid begins construction of world's largest judicial complex
The Community of Madrid has completed the excavation, pouring, and foundation phases for the Ciudad de la Justicia in Valdebebas. One year after construction began, work has transitioned to building the above-ground structures.
The project, described by regional authorities as the largest judicial complex in the world, involves the removal of 1.5 million tons of earth. Construction efforts currently utilize 19 cranes and 15 heavy machines, with workforce numbers expected to peak at over 2,000 workers.
Key structures, including the High Court of Justice of Madrid (TSJM) and the Provincial Court, are scheduled to have their frameworks completed by the first quarter of 2027. Following the installation of facades and internal systems, the buildings are expected to be fully operational after the summer of 2028.
Additionally, the regional government announced that works on the Interactive Center for the Memory of Victims of Terrorism will begin before the end of the year, with a target opening in March 2027.
