Madrid prepares for F1 Spanish Grand Prix at new Madring circuit
Preparations are intensifying for the inaugural Formula 1 Spanish Grand Prix at the new Madring circuit in Madrid, scheduled for September 11–13, 2026. Recent Formula 3 testing sessions served as a critical technical rehearsal, though they highlighted significant safety concerns. The tests saw 19 red flags and ten different drivers involved in incidents, particularly at Turn 17, Turns 5–6, and Turn 7, due to tight corners and proximity to walls.
To manage the event, the Real Automóvil Club de España (RACE) is deploying a team of over 700 personnel, including medical professionals, firefighters, and track officials. Additionally, Real Madrid has joined as a Local Event Supporter, providing logistical support through its Valdebebas facilities and offering exclusive hospitality areas.
The 5.4-kilometer hybrid track features 22 turns, including the high-banked ‘La Monumental’ turn. Madrid has secured a ten-year contract to host the Grand Prix through 2035.
