Madrid completes 262-kilometer Arco Verde environmental network

The Community of Madrid has completed the Arco Verde project, a large-scale environmental infrastructure spanning 262 kilometers. The network connects 25 municipalities across the region, consisting of a 175-kilometer main ring and over 80 kilometers of various branches.

The project links several regional parks, four environmental education centers, and other natural areas of interest. In the southeast, the network has been finalized through connections involving Arganda del Rey, Rivas Vaciamadrid, Velilla de San Antonio, and Mejorada.

In Arganda del Rey, the network runs along the northwestern boundary of the municipality. Due to the high natural value and the presence of river forest in this specific area, regional authorities decided against direct interventions within the municipality to ensure environmental conservation. However, residents can access the network from the El Piul iron bridge, which allows connection to routes leading toward San Fernando de Henares and other northern municipalities.
