Madrid court issues restraining order against Vito Quiles

The Provincial Court of Madrid has issued precautionary measures against Vito Quiles following an appeal by commentator Sarah Santaolalla. The court has ordered Quiles to remain at least 500 meters away from Santaolalla’s residence and has prohibited him from contacting her via telephone or messaging, except for strictly professional purposes.

These restrictions are provisional and will remain in effect until witnesses proposed by the complainant have testified. Additionally, the court overturned a previous dismissal of the case, ordering that the investigation into potential crimes of harassment or coercion continue.

Because both parties work within the field of political commentary, the court noted that the restraining order is specifically limited to Santaolalla’s home and does not extend to professional settings, such as press conferences or public events, where they may naturally overlap.
