Madrid Court orders probe into €8 million Correos payment to Víctor de Aldama
The Provincial Court of Madrid has ordered an investigation into whether Víctor de Aldama received eight million euros from Correos without a formal contract. This ruling follows an appeal by the political party Vox, which had previously seen its complaint dismissed by an instruction court.
The court determined that the complaint presents specific facts and crimes rather than a general request for investigation, citing objective elements found in public records. Among these is a letter from the Secretary of the Board and Director of Legal Affairs of the State Society of Industrial Participations (SEPI) addressed to the former president of Correos.
The investigation will also examine other contracts deemed suspicious by Vox, including those related to security, climate control, and a contract involving the rescue of Globalia. Specifically, the court is looking into a Correos Cargo contract with the airline Evelop, where clauses allegedly required Correos to assume all negative financial results, potentially transferring losses to the state-owned entity.
