Madrid court sentences man to 12 years for decade-long abuse of daughter
The Audiencia de Madrid has sentenced a man to twelve years in prison for the sexual abuse of his daughter. The assaults took place over a decade, beginning when the victim was eight years old and continuing until she was 18.
The victim, whose family emigrated from Ecuador to Spain in 2001, reported that the abuse occurred two to three times per week while her mother was working or bathing. The court also established that the man had abused the victim's brother.
During the trial, the victim testified that the abuse led to substance abuse issues and social difficulties as she attempted to escape the domestic situation. The victim eventually left the family home with the help of her brother.
