Madrid flight reservations projected to rise 5% due to Shakira and F1
Madrid is projected to see a 5% year-on-year increase in flight reservations between September 9 and October 4, driven by major events including the Formula 1 Spanish Grand Prix and Shakira’s world tour.
According to data from Amadeus Travel Intelligence, domestic flight reservations to the capital are expected to surge by 28%, while international bookings are forecasted to rise by 4%. The Shakira residency is a significant driver for domestic travel, with bookings from certain regions like Barcelona increasing by 128%.
Short-term stays of five nights or fewer are also rising, accounting for 37% of total reservations. In the hotel sector, average daily rates (ADR) are expected to increase by 25%, reaching approximately $413 during the peak period in September.
