Madrid Formula 1 Grand Prix prompts metro promotion and cattle bridge controversy

The Community of Madrid launched a campaign featuring Formula 1 driver Carlos Sainz to encourage spectators to travel by Metro to the Spanish Grand Prix. Sainz rode line 8 from Nuevos Ministerios to Feria de Madrid in under nine minutes, and the metro operator pledged extra trains and staff for the event scheduled for 11–13 September.

Separately, the Madrid City Council drafted a plan for a large cattle overpass on the M‑11 to reconnect two historic livestock routes broken by the circuit’s construction. Environmental groups and the PSOE claim the diversion may breach green‑space protections. The proposed bridge, spanning twelve traffic lanes, would be financed by IFEMA, according to the council’s proposal.
