Madrid Formula 1 Grand Prix to generate €467 million and 8,850 jobs

The Spanish Formula 1 Grand Prix will be held on the new urban circuit in Madrid (Madring) from 11 to 13 September 2026. A PwC study estimates the event will create an economic impact of €467 million, equivalent to 5.7 % of the region’s direct recreation‑sector value added, and sustain around 8,850 jobs.

Ticket sales have already exceeded 120,000, with more than 80,000 visitors expected from outside Madrid, of whom about 45,000 will travel from abroad. The event is projected to generate approximately €83 million in taxes and social‑security contributions. Direct spending will benefit hospitality (€59 million), transport (€22 million), commerce (€18 million), manufacturing (€72 million), construction (€50 million), professional services (€33 million) and information & communications (€19 million).

José Vicente de los Mozos, executive committee president of IFEMA Madrid, said the Grand Prix confirms its role as a major economic engine for the region and enhances Madrid’s international brand. PwC economics partner Jordi Esteve highlighted the multiplier effect, noting that each euro of direct activity generates about €3.9 in the wider Madrid economy.
