Madrid honors 560 Municipal Police officers for 25 years of service

The Madrid City Council held a ceremony to honor 560 Municipal Police officers for completing 25 years of public service. During the event, held at the Nave de Villaverde, the officers were awarded the Cross of San Juan in recognition of their professional careers and commitment to the city.

Vice Mayor and Delegate for Security and Emergencies, Inma Sanz, presided over the ceremony. She highlighted the increased municipal budget for the police force, which has grown by 54% since 2019, reaching 540 million euros, and noted the addition of 700 officers to the streets.

Among the honorees, retired officer Carolina Gómez received a special plaque for her service, noting her resilience after being injured during the 2006 terrorist attack at Madrid-Barajas Airport. Another celebrated officer, María Altagracia Espinosa Feliz, was recognized for her 25-year career, marking a journey from her early days as a pizza delivery worker to her long-standing service in the force.
