Madrid hospitals implement new home care and celebrate milestones
Public hospitals in the Community of Madrid are implementing new healthcare initiatives. The Gregorio Marañón Hospital has launched a pioneering in-home pharmaceutical care program in Spain. This service provides in-person visits for adults undergoing home hospitalization, focusing on patients with complex medication needs or those requiring close monitoring. Pharmacists review clinical histories before visiting homes to verify medication usage, organization, and administration techniques, such as the proper use of inhalers. Patients also have access to a 24-hour contact telephone for professional guidance.
Meanwhile, the José Germain University Hospital, a mental health specialist center, is celebrating its 175th anniversary. The facility features specialized Sensory Modulation Rooms designed to aid emotional regulation through visual, auditory, tactile, and olfactory stimulation. These rooms are part of a personalized care model that integrates individual sensory profiles into patient clinical records. The hospital employs over 530 multidisciplinary professionals to provide outpatient, inpatient, and day hospital services.
