Madrid hospitals present medical advancements and health initiatives
The Infanta Elena University Hospital (HUIE) in the Community of Madrid presented its Digital Emergency Circuit results at the European Congress of Emergency Medicine (EUSEM) in Paris. The program, implemented in 2021, utilizes telemedicine to manage chronic and non-emergency patients through phone calls or video consultations. In 2026, the circuit treated 7,215 patients, accounting for 15 percent of the hospital's emergency demand, with an average medical assessment wait time of 21 minutes and an average stay of 40 minutes.
Separately, the Torrejón University Hospital organized an event to commemorate Breast Cancer Awareness Day in collaboration with the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC) and the Torrejón de Ardoz City Council. The initiative focused on the importance of physical exercise during oncological treatment, featuring talks by specialists in oncology, rehabilitation, and physiotherapy to provide practical care recommendations for patients.
