Madrid hosts conference on acute leukemia treatment advancements
The XV Acute Leukemia Conference is currently taking place in Madrid, bringing together medical experts from Spain, Europe, and Latin America to discuss advancements in the diagnosis and treatment of acute leukemias and other hematological neoplasms.
Key topics of discussion include new approaches to treating acute myeloid leukemia (AML), which are shifting away from traditional intensive chemotherapy toward precision medicine and CAR-T immunotherapy. The conference also addresses myelodysplastic syndromes and the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in hematology.
Dr. Adolfo de la Fuente, coordinator and head of Hematology and Hemotherapy at MD Anderson Cancer Center Madrid – Hospiten, noted that AI is significantly reducing the time required for literature reviews, allowing clinicians to access evidence more efficiently to make timely and sensible treatment decisions.
