Madrid hosts launch of The District 2026 real‑estate capital summit

Madrid hosted the presentation of The District 2026, the premier European event focused on real‑estate capital. The five‑day summit, scheduled for 22‑24 September at IFEMA Madrid, will bring together more than 15,000 investors, developers and senior executives from across the continent.

Organisers emphasised Spain’s growing appeal to international capital, noting a 2.4 % GDP growth this year – roughly double the EU average – and a record‑high share of investment in the “living” sector, which accounted for 30 % of 2025 capital inflows. Juan Velayos, president of The District, said the Madrid edition “opens an especially exciting stage for the event, keeping its DNA focused on capital and investors” and aims to be the place where “real, relevant meetings take place”.

Spanish officials highlighted the city’s ambition to attract funding for housing and infrastructure. Jorge Rodrigo Domínguez, regional minister for Housing, Transport and Infrastructure, warned that access to housing depends on public‑private collaboration and legal certainty. The agenda also covered office and retail trends, with industry leaders discussing how new work habits are reshaping those segments.
