Madrid hosts national poetry competitions and multidisciplinary arts festivals

Madrid is hosting significant cultural events centered on poetry and multidisciplinary arts. The eighth edition of the National Poetry Viva Award (#LdeLírica) is reaching its final stage at the Ámbito Cultural space in El Corte Inglés, Callao. Seven poets representing various regions of Spain—including Galicia, Andalusia, Madrid, and the Canary Islands—will compete in a format that emphasizes oral, scenic, and performative poetry, incorporating elements such as spoken word, music, and visual arts.

Simultaneously, the Cosmopoética festival is exploring the intersection of poetry with cinema, music, and photography. Filmmaker and writer Rodrigo Cortés participated in the 'Voces desde el Aleph' cycle, discussing how poetry serves as a way to decipher the world. Cortés noted that while his literature may not be poetry in the strict sense, he finds poetic resonance in his prose and a deep connection between his cinematic language and musicality.
