Puente de Vallecas to undergo 1.9 million euro redevelopment of Santa Catalina Avenue

The Madrid City Council is investing 1.9 million euros to redevelop Santa Catalina Avenue in the Puente de Vallecas district. The project covers a surface area of 16,400 square meters.

Key improvements include the rehabilitation and expansion of sidewalks to a minimum width of 1.8 meters to ensure accessibility. The project also features the creation of new pedestrian crossings, the rehabilitation of ramps for people with reduced mobility, and the installation of new urban furniture and lighting to enhance nighttime safety.

To promote environmental sustainability, the plan includes new landscaped areas with native vegetation and trees using permeable pavement to improve rainwater management. Additionally, retaining walls will be constructed near Calle de Embajadores to prevent soil and stone landslides.
