Madrid launches new cultural season with diverse theater and art programming

Madrid has launched its new cultural season, featuring a diverse program of theater, symphonic music, and contemporary dance. A central highlight is the production of Lope de Vega’s ‘Los locos de Valencia’ at Teatros del Canal. Directed by Pepa Pedroche and based on a version by José Luis Alonso de Santos, the play is presented as a musical comedy and is scheduled to run in the Sala Verde until September 20.

Other notable theatrical offerings include ‘Electra jonda,’ a co-production between the Community of Madrid and the Mérida International Classical Theater Festival, performing at the Sala Roja Concha Velasco until September 18. Additionally, Teatro La Abadía is debuting its 2026/27 season with ‘Leonora,’ starring Natalia Huarte, which remains on the program until September 13.

The cultural agenda also extends to exhibitions, with ‘Ana Locking. Nostalgia / Utopía’ continuing at the Sala Canal de Isabel II through September 27, and ‘Mitologías modernas: Ouka Leele & Co’ exhibiting at Sala Alcalá 31 until October 18.
