Madrid penthouse sale: Seller agrees to public disclosure of files

The seller of a luxury penthouse purchased by the Community of Madrid for 6.3 million euros has agreed to the public disclosure of the transaction's files. Astrid Gil-Casares, the owner of the property on General Martínez Campos, notified authorities that she will not file objections against the release of the documentation.

Previously, the public company Planifica Madrid had declined to release the files, citing transparency laws and the need to protect the privacy of third parties. The seller's consent removes this administrative barrier, allowing for the potential release of contracts and reports.

The purchase has faced scrutiny from the Más Madrid opposition group, which sought to investigate the criteria used for the acquisition and the budgetary justifications. The Madrid Assembly Board recently rejected 16 of these initiatives. The regional government, led by Isabel Díaz Ayuso, maintains that the property was acquired to serve institutional needs during renovations at the Real Casa de Correos.
