Madrid police arrest driver after M-30 wrong-way chase

A man has been arrested in Madrid after a high-speed police chase involving driving the wrong way on the M-30 highway. The incident began on August 21 near Méndez Álvaro, where the driver ignored signals from the Municipal Police while using a mobile phone.

The suspect fled at high speeds, performing a sudden reverse maneuver that broke an access barrier at the Adif Abroñigal freight station. He then drove against the flow of traffic on a section of the M-30 during heavy morning congestion and bypassed a police checkpoint on Embajadores Street.

The pursuit ended at the Santa Catalina Adif station, where the driver abandoned his vehicle and attempted to flee on foot toward the train tracks. Authorities confirmed the driver, a man born in 1988 in Georgia, did not possess a valid driver's license and tested positive for cocaine.
