Madrid police arrest man for fatal stabbing of partner in Carabanchel

Spanish National Police have arrested a 59-year-old man following the fatal stabbing of his 52-year-old partner in the Carabanchel district of Madrid. The victim, a Guatemalan national, was attacked on Tuesday afternoon near the entrance of a residential complex on Ontanilla Street.

The victim sustained multiple stab wounds to the chest and abdomen, causing her to go into cardiorespiratory arrest. Although emergency medical services managed to stabilize her briefly, she passed away at the Hospital 12 de Octubre.

Following a search operation, officers located the suspect inside a vehicle in the Villaverde area. Investigators are treating the incident as a potential case of gender-based violence. If confirmed, this would mark the 43rd fatal instance of gender violence in Spain so far this year.
